Why should you learn from me?
Teaching Experience - While my expertise is in hip-hop, I have experience teaching a multitude of genres. I’ve taught jazz, funk, metal, pop, and R&B. I’ve taught live performance as well as beat production and I’ve designed courses. This background means that I understand learning outcomes and can help you connect your other musical interests with your journey as an MC.
Music experience - I rhyme, sing, play keys, and make beats. I’ve served as a musical director, executive producer, songwriter, arranger and performer on various projects and stages, so I know how to lead and how to serve in the background. These experiences give me the perspective to offer you the necessary guidance on your projects and events.
Teaching philosophy
- I believe hip-hop, like every other art form, needs to be both learned and taught with respect for and study of the culture and people who created it.
- I believe artists have a responsibility to understand their impact and authenticity is key.
- I believe MCs are musicians and the best skill a musician can develop is their ability to listen deeply.
With me, you won’t only learn the “how” but you will get the “why” and cultural context to help you discover your own “why.”
Who should take these lessons?
These lessons are for you if:
- You're a vocalist interested in developing/improving your rhyming technique and skill
- You're an MC looking to learn more about your voice and improve your mic technique, breathing technique, delivery, and flow.
- You're a total beginner.
- You've been rhyming all your life.
No matter your skill level or needs, I can help you reach your goals.
